Intro
The Impulse series has been completely redesigned, with major changes to the structure as well as the graphics: the titanal has been deployed throughout the length of the ski and not only under the binding mount point as in the past. The geometries are unchanged as are the waist widths of all the models. A family of skis positioned just slightly above that of a pure touring range, their significant heft denotes structure and substance. This is a modern lightweight freeride, featuring a classic shape and camber underfoot to carve through the firmest conditions, coupled with a tip and tail rocker profile that provides intuitive handling.
On the snow
The first impact is one of lightness underfoot, conferring a sensation of a malleable, nimble playful tool that will turn wherever you want it to. Reliable control in both powder and firm snow, the skis delivers a good balance between performance and lightness, meaning it's great for resort skiing as well long ascents in search of fun lines, much like a pure freeride ski. The modern shape will appeal to the more classic skier looking for a daily driver for transitioning from traditional technique by introducing some new-school elements. This is a versatile size for tackling most commonly encountered snow conditions through the winter and you're unlikely to find terrain that doesn't suit its features. Solid in technical terrain, very nimble through medium- and short-radius turns, they're comfortable in both steep couloirs, powder days in the trees and also hold their own in wind crust when the need arises. This is no full-throttle big-mountain straight-line ski but a super-solid daily driver.
Lab
Very concave at tip and tail, flat at the waist. Difficult to flatten after 10 runs through the tuning machine. No structure or wax. Reasonably good edges 1.6 x 2 mm at 88°, base edge 0.5°. Rough finishing on the base, edge detuned at tip and tail and abundant sidewall. Tuning required.
