Intro
The women's version of the iconic orange Cochise is not a mere ski boot: it's a hard-charging, freeriding powerhouse. Which is why it's right at the limit of its category; you need to take this into careful consideration before shelling out the cash. The C.A.S. system offers unrivaled thermoforming of the shell and liner.
Walking
This is a very downhill-oriented boot, so no surprises that in uphill mode it's clumsy and more than a little bulky. The range of motion is limited; while the rockered GripWalk sole under the forefoot aids foot roll, this isn't enough to compensate for the lack of mobility. Despite this, it's a comfortable fit, with no real pressure points. It feels like a resort boot. Use it for brief sidecountry uphills.
Lab
Of the four micro-adjust buckles, the two on the cuff have a lock for walk mode and 180° twist option to stop them rattling against the ladder on the uphill. The thick, robust Power Lock strap hold the shin firmly. Entry is easy, though lower temperatures might make it more difficult. The ski/walk mechanism is fiddly, largely due to the dial used to lock the boot which is unworkable with gloves on.
Skiing
The perceived flex is higher than the stated 115, making it a precise, powerful boot that brings to mind the Mach1 LV Pro alpine boot, which it was inspired by. Incredibly responsive, it locks in the foot and provides immediate power transmission. Its progressive flex lets you create sinuous turns of various lengths. The Asymmetric Power Transmission technology, where the inside of the shell is thicker than the outside, increases lateral power transmission and edge grip with faster and more controlled edge-to-edge transitions. The perfect boot for slackcountry days that you can use for short uphills where necessary.
