Intro
The Voile Skyline is a real all-mountain beast. The ride is so stable you could drink your morning coffee on the way down! The build features a full paulownia wood core and carbon coating that confer exceptional structure and stability and reduce chatter to zero. The clean shape and classic freeride profile make this board very intuitive. An interesting feature? The all-new multi-directional hooks include dynamic features and a proprietary technology: a camlock that actively pulls the two board halves together, while the hook shape secures their position fore and aft.

On the snow
On the snow, it cuts through even the harshest, firmest conditions like a knife, dispatching whatever’s laid before it with ease. Stability when on edge is its main feature: when speed ramps up or on steep, consequential terrain, wherever you stick it, this board stays rock solid! A word of caution though: the structure is unforgiving of errors and requires powerful legs. The minimal setback allows you to play around with the stance meaning it’s versatile and easily adapts to the riding style you wish to adopt. The goal during development (as with many brands in the industry) was to create a split that behaves like a solid. Perhaps the perfect board doesn't exist—but the Voile team has managed to come mighty close here. We should stress, however, that this is a product for aggressive, fast-charging riders, so look elsewhere if you're after a more relaxed board.

Safety, a culture of doubt

Beyond the basic definition, there’s nothing as variable as snow conditions and the human psyche when under emotional stress. That's why, after purchasing the right self-rescue kit and airbag backpack, it’s paramount you do your research, train, scrutinize your decisions and, if necessary, opt for plan B. And, at least for now, don’t rely on artificial intelligence.

Intro
Products for mountaineers

Once you’ve chosen your skis, boots and bindings, your thoughts then turn to harnesses, crampons, ice axe and helmet, though perhaps not everyone, and not straight away. While it’s true that when starting out, especially for those transitioning from resort skiing who just want to start surfing some pow, the important thing is to get self-rescue equipment. It’s equally true, however, that the sport we love is a combination of two words: skiing and mountaineering.
