From Roncobello, a mountain village in the Italian province of Bergamo, William started out in cross-country skiing before making the transition to skimo. But the precision he learned in cross-country and when training to be an engineer has stayed with him on the higher slopes. A talent he has also applied in product testing. With the Italian national team, he has second-place finishes in the Pierra Menta and the Mezzalama, along with a bronze medal at the World Championships. Last season, he took second at the Mountain Attack and won at home in the Parravicini.
