Since its launch in 2018/19, this has boot graced the feet of an entire new generation of ski tourers, free tourers and Mountain Guides, winning accolades for the compromise between weight, walkability and downhill performance. In this latest iteration, in addition to the many performance-focused upgrades, we’ll highlight that the materials have been re-thought with a mind to sustainability, using recycled plastics and the possibility to recycle each individual component.
The main differences are to be found in the structure, which employs the Power Frame (which was already used in the Peak models). This enables a differentiation between the rigidity of shell and cuff to improve lateral power transmission and reduce deformation in those points of maximum pressure. The result is a more progressive flex profile and reduced weight (already incredibly light for a 4-buckle boot) of around 30 grams for the size 26.5. The published flex rating is 130, which remains the same as its predecessor, although they do feel more rigid, especially regarding lateral torsion. The fit has also received an upgrade, this time however concerning comfort, with a re-designed toe box and instep, which broadens the range of foot types it will suit, making it ideal also for wider feet. At the same time, the possibility to carry out bootfitting is maintained thanks to the C.A.S. which uses heat-moldable plastics combined with co-injected carbon.

Enhancements in uphill performance include cuff range of motion, which has been increased from 55° to 60°, making them more nimble on steep terrain — thanks also to the new T-Hike ski-walk mechanism which now features two locking positions. Thus Tecnica reaffirms itself as one of the leaders when it comes to the latest generation of 4-buckle boots to enter the market.

Together, these features combine to provide an outstanding sensation during the uphill, where walkability is noticeably improved, enabling a longer stride length and ease of movement over technical terrain, including while bootpacking. During the downhill, the boots' already famed performance quality scores some extra points in terms of precision and reactivity, especially when edging or carving.
The rest of the structure, sole and buckles remain unchanged apart from some minor improvements, upholding the quality of a product that already delivers outstanding performance. And with these new enhancements it seems to have everything it needs to retain its pole position as one of the best-selling products in this segment.
