Intro

Also sold separately, as one has a traditional foam grip, while the other comes with a protective handle and retractable blade with spring mechanism. It's very well designed, with hardcore ski mountaineers in mind. The pole with blade is heavy and right from the approach onwards you just have to deal with it. We prefer an ice axe attached to our backpack, but it could be a big help to those nervous on steep, icy terrain.
