Intro
Designed for freeriding, but the well-organized interior spaces mean it’s also ideal for winter ski touring. It features two main pockets: one for self-rescue kit, with a high-viz fluorescent zip, and an upper one for the Litric system (electronic, rechargeable via USB-C). As usual, when the airbag is at the top and not in the base, you need to pack carefully to ensure the load is well-balanced. The Freeride 28 base with back panel and airbag system is comfortable and compatible with all Avabag Litric Freeride and Tour zip attachments. The inflation system is swift and self-evident, with a semi-transparent mesh through which you can see the activation light and charge status. Useful online tutorial for learning how to get the most out of it. The adjustable trigger handle with twist lock is very well designed. One criticism: it’s a bit on the small side. Deflation and folding of the airbag are straightforward. Complete set of accessories: retractable ice axe holder, helmet holder and vertical ski holder.
