Having grown up in a family of non-skiers in Emilia-Romagna, Alessandro put on skis for the first time on nearby Monte Cimone in the mid-90s. After years competing throughout Italy, and as his performance had begun to wane, his father said, "If you can win races, maybe you can design skis to help others win." And so it was that he became a materials engineer and ski instructor, not to mention head of boot design at Kästle.
